Really huh...that's interesting...

Randomness...that's the name of the game today :)

Do any of you have dogs that lick another dogs ears?? It's gross...Even does it. That is probably THE ONLY thing I don't like about that dog. Just wrong.

We attempted to put up the pool yesterday, no one was shanked...no one yelled, but we forgot a VITAL part of the installation process so couldn't put it up...blocks of wood are required, we NO have blocks of wood...no wood, no pool. Sadness...

Even Steven did her first jump grid :) She jumps like her mother...SCORE!!!! Both girls have their mothers jumping ability...GOTTA LOVE IT!!!!

Klink thinks jump grids suck ass...and she wants the blog readers to know this fact :)

River went home last night...Even was sad...but this am she is back to beating the living crap out of her sister and has forgotten all about him :)

FB break is in order....blehhhh........cyber time is going to be limited...I can do all that crap in the winter when the weather is crappy. I will be out enjoying summer if you need me :) While still trying desperately to keep up with the picture a day thingie!

We are trying for the building AGAIN...2nd times a charm right!?!?!?! RIGHT!?!?!?!?!

I am leaving all 7 dogs with a friend for a bit this week...this scares me...will they eat her alive...it's for not quite 24 hours...ZIP BE GOOD!!!!!

I am currently making barre chords my bitch...that's a guitar term...the barre chords...not the bitch part ;-)

People always ask me...are there advantages to having lots of dogs?

Well...we have 7, and I would say yes. If you had like 30 or something...that answer might be a bit more complicated. Luckily my need to have more than 7 of them seems to no longer be an issue. Heck, puppies aren't even cute anymore! Sometimes I feel like the Duggars...with our gazillion dogs...not really, they have like, what...19 kids or something like that?

If I had 19 dogs I think I would be putting a gun to my head...and lets not talk about 19 HUMAN babies...wow...that's all I can say about that one!!!

Lots of disadvantages of course:

Cost of food and vet supplies
Who wants to watch SEVEN dogs when you need a break from being a doggie parent?
Going to the bathroom alone can be tricky--hell, going ANYWHERE alone can be tricky.
Keeping track of all of them on walks (I count DOGS...people who to hiking with me first try to count and make sure everyone by NAME is there...nope, just count bodies. You'll never keep up that way)
You do weird shit like buy your dogs big pools...and turf your garage because you don't want to go outside in the winter and walk 7 dogs.
You spend hours a week of your life, which you will never get back, massaging dogs...stretching dogs...conditioning dogs.
Everyone minus other large dog households think you are completely insane. Many won't TELL YOU this...but they do, you can see it in their eyes :)
Apparently people think that because their ONE dog pisses in their house...that because you have SEVEN...your home smells like a toilet bowl...NOPE...hate to burst your bubble there but we do something called TRAINING and CLEANING in my house. The last time I had to clean carpets was a good long time ago.
You do things like buy dogfood in bulk, Frontline in bulk, Heartworm in bulk...just about everything really.
We CAN walk 7 dogs on leash...but really...why?
And that's just a short list, I am SURE there are many other ones...like 10 times this list.
If one of us ever was killed (knocking on wood)...we are both resigned to the fact that not many NORMAL people would be interested in us romantically...only other dog people...who, in reality are dog people BECAUSE they are not super fond of other humans...lets face it kids...I'm right...just think on that one a bit :)

But yes...there are advantages!

There's always another dog to make the dog in time out jealous...dogs love this job, some RELISH in it (mainly Zip and Lynn)...
When one is injured, you have 6 more to train :)
The vet you go to treats them more like livestock, bring them in like a herd of cows...shots/heartworm etc etc etc. Expensive sure, but I think it would be MORE expensive if there were only, say, 4 dogs. Get my drift?
Your dogs will NEVER, and I mean EVER get over trained. Not gonna happen. If you are the type that loves to train and you tend to sour your dogs...go get another 4 of them...that'll learn ya!
You have an endless supply of crates/leashes/beds...which your friends with NORMAL amounts of dogs can borrow...probably even never return and you wouldn't know the difference.
In the winter...dogs are warm :) The more the merrier if you ask me!
Endless supply of free entertainment--lawn chair, Amber Bock, dogs and sprinkler can keep me content for HOURS.
You can right stupid blogs all about them...with new material every, single, day!! OMG!!!!! eeek!!

Day 158: Really?!?!!?
So...as I love trying to understand people (since I am much better at understanding dogs)...I have started reading the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. Here I expected to learn some NEW and AMAZING ways to deal with those of the opposite sex...even the same sex...

NO we are not on a rocky road, NO we are not getting a divorce...I read lots of books on serial killers, but you don't see me hauling in giant vats of acid into my dining room now do ya? :)

Anyway...back to the book....

Ummmm......

Apparently the husband and I don't function much this way...I am not NEARLY female enough...and he is not NEARLY male enough...maybe that's why we get along so well for the most part. Sure we argue...what couple doesn't...but yeah...I'm about half way through it and well...I'd say my marriage is PRETTY DAMN GREAT. Ya know...how sometimes you just have to watch Jerry Springer to realize that your life is pretty f-ing amazing!!

If the book helps you...that's awesome...but the husband and I were reading it a bit together the other night, and we were BOTH laughing. It's just so not us...we don't fit into the masculine and feminine roles 100% (probably not even 80%!). Maybe if we had kids this would be more appropriate? Not sure...

NOW...on the side of women...wow...huge eye opener for ME personally. Interesting to see how women communicate and think. It's a popular book, so I'm guessing a great deal of women act like this...I know a great deal of men act as they talk about in the book. Just extremely interesting and some good insight on dealing with women as my brain wasn't able to wrap around certain aspects of how women think. I've always had more guy friends...so...for THAT, it was helpful to increase my understanding of other women.

If you've read the book I would LOVE to hear your opinions on it...maybe it's more for certain generations (aka baby boomers) than say my generation X. Maybe we're missing a huge part of the book that is yet to come. So...if you've read it...please comment! Would LOVE to hear what you think!

But just as an FYI...if you read the book, and I'm venting about something...don't hug me...I'll be in my cave sorting it out :)

Next 3 weekends...trialing...local, local then the Rocky Mountain Regional in Denver, Colorado...then a BREAK :)

Adios!

I read that book for a psych course in college- Though the points thing was a bit helpful... and cave thing made some sense...I am NOT a wave, thank you very much.
So I agree that to an extent its not so much for our later generations (think lots of couples blur the gender line nowadays...sometimes my BF is totally "the girl..."). Seems like you can read it and learn a lot about people, but not the genders anymore because there IS so much crossover; after all, like you said, some girls need a cave too. :)

There are a few sequels too- they get QUITE ridiculous.

LOL That is a GREAT way to explain it Shenna...I like how you put it into words.

In our marriage the gender line is for sure blurred...

I will not be purchasing the sequels...no thank you! LOL
