Gonna get right on that....

Since I don't have any new pics of Even I will post some of the rest of the family :)

Not sure who all cares about my countless Even updates, but I guess it's my blog and I am excited about Even...so you all get to read about it (or not if you choose!LOL)

Even Steven update! Today's checkup is 100% good! Even is doing a TON of activity and so far things are holding up!

She got to jump 12" a few times and got to do a tunnel today--fingers crossed she will stay sound :) She has another appointment next week, and if all goes well, I WILL GET A "COME GET YOUR PUPPY" DATE! I am SOOOO excited about having my Steven back, she is a DOG now! A real dog! She can run! She can play, she can do whatever the hell she wants!

Andy and I were talking the other day, this injury has plagued her since she was 10 months old, craziness. It was a really bad tricep tear by the way...in case I haven't mentioned that. And now she is tolerating more exercise than she has in 6 months with NO ISSUES! (insert me jumping up and down...with a very supportive sports bra). She has never been out in the house with the pack, as she was an evil little bugger who got into crap, but mainly because she was injured at the age she would have been out. So she will be so happy to not have to do any crate rest again :)
I do feel badly though, LV (the gal that has her) is really going to miss her, she said she will be crying when she leaves. Apparently Even has wiggled her way into LV's heart as well...she has that ability. So it will be bittersweet, I am going to be so happy to have her back, but a bit sad that LV is going to miss her. She is bugging me to breed Zip again...sigh...as are many people....
Lynn might not be happy to have her back...it has been good for Even to be gone, I have bonded more with Lynn and that has been great for both of us :) Lynn will get over it, and whoever else has their noses out of joint over Even returning will get over it :) They have no choice!
Another great thing about Even getting injured is everything I have learned. How important conditioning is for doggie athletes. It is probably the most important thing! I now devote a good amount of time working strengthening exercises, core work (Even had a weak core and so did Klinker)..not anymore! Lots of things other than stockwork or agility...all my dogs are stronger and in better shape because of this. And I now give everyone weekly massages and range of motion exercises to help with keeping there muscles etc in shape. I am thankful to everyone who has taught me all this in the past few weeks :)
I was informed to not run my dogs in agility when the temperature is below 10 degrees. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES. And in reality the same goes for hikes. Which is the cause (we think) of all of the injuries, think running around on snow/ice in the cold...duh!?!?

Well...so I have 7 dogs with no hiking or no agility (and working sheep COULD work, if it weren't for the 3 feet of snow we always have) for the entire months of January and February. Just slit my wrists right now...seriously. So we are looking into putting up a personal agility barn. I am keeping my fingers crossed it is feasible, we are just in the "getting bids" stage, but I am hoping we can either do a 60 x 80 or 40 x 60---heated, insulated, dirt flooring most likely. This way the dogs can always play and run, we can do agility, and since it is dirt flooring, I could possibly even do a bit of herding in there! It is an exciting prospect and I hope I can post that we are starting to build very very soon :)

Yes I am insane...but I also have 6 dogs that are working...part of the insanity yes, but I wouldn't have it any other way :) Hopefully my next post will be more interesting!

I was thrilled to read about Even and how well she is doing! Yipee!!! She won't know what to do with herself now that she is almost a normal dog! Poor girl being injured for so long. Thank goodness for your friend and the rehab.

Would you be able to make a video of some of the core strengthening exercises you are doing? I am interested to see or hear more about it.

Your own agility barn would be totally AWESOME!

No kidding thank goodness for my friend! I totally agree!

I can try to get some of the core exercises on a video if I can get the husband to video me!
