Gator

The dog I never talk about :) Not because he isn't a nice dog, but...I don't know, I guess I just don't much.
I am making myself use him for chores, just to get more miles on him and I am finding I just grab Klink or Zip and it makes things easy...well Gator COULD be like that if I would just work him :) So here you go.
We rotationally graze the sheep, to maximize pasture. So everyday we move sheep. Jello, our ram has a little buddy with him and we move them to the side pasture (what we call it anyway) and the girls and lambs are moved around the main back pasture. At night everyone is put up and the next day things go again.

So the ram and his buddy don't mix with the ewes, I have the dogs push the sheep far out into the pasture, usually in a corner. I don't want them running back to the barn and then I have to sort sheep! Gator figured this out very quickly and isn't remotely bothered working the ewes and lambs. The ladies are a bit nasty right now due to the lambs, but they don't give him any trouble. Gator has a great grip on him :)

Keep pushing Gator!
Love watching him work :)

Lots of style, good feel and although as a young dog he wasn't very pushy, he is definetly now! :)

Now time to move Jello and his buddy to the side pasture...they don't want to go for some reason, so this can be difficult but Gator is also figuring this out :)
Atta boy!
Now to bring he ladies back...
I am not saying anything to him other than steady...good boy.
Very nice...That'll do Gator.
What a happy boy!
It is neat watching Gator figure things out and settle into his job :) Every year this boy gets better and better!

Thanks Diane :) It is amazing how much he has turned into a very forward dog from when he started as a young pup. I love it!
