Even Steven...

Well we have the results...Even as trigger point issues in her tricep, head of the bicep and one in her superspinatus tendon :(

Trigger points are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. [1] Trigger point practitioners believe that palpable nodules are small contraction knots[ambiguous] and a common cause of pain. Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, referred pain, or local twitch response. The local twitch response is not the same as a muscle spasm. This is because a muscle spasm refers to the entire muscle entirely contracting whereas the local twitch response also refers to the entire muscle but only involves a small twitch, no contraction.

So basically...a sh*tload of pain...

Dr. Christine did some actupuncture on her and that seemed to help a lot :) So that is good!

The prognosis is 12 more weeks until she can go back to work...

And right now only 3-5 minute walks to potty...

Ultrasound or laser 2 times a week for a month--$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
And said ultrasound/laser is 2.5-3 hours one way--more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
And massage, which I can do :)
I have a portable ultrasound that I can use on Even's tricep, but not the bicep as it is too close to bone.

So...yeah. I have my answer...and I am REALLY bummed...

Lynn is starting on stock, Lynn is running agility really well...and her sister...is in an x-pen bored out of her mind.

I can't even do clicker training trick stuff, too much movement. I hate it when my dogs are injured...

Positive thoughts for her please. I keep telling myself it can ALWAYS be worse...

Sorry to hear about your girl!

You can rent a laser starting at about $250/mo. http://www.respondsystems.com/

P.S. look at the Impulse Laser System contract for rental rates.

Thank you! I was sent that website by another person and I WILL be doing this! :)

Have you done any laser treatment with your dog?

Yes. I was lucky enough to live near a really good PT in CT until a few months ago and have been having my dogs lasered for years. Until recently I'd used it on myself just sort of playing around but have now used it on one of my dogs. I think that the people at Respond Systems can walk you through how to use it or (and this is what I'd suggest) - rent it and take it to the PT/vet/whatever you've used and see if they'll show you how to use it. It's not hard to figure out and the Impulse System isn't the highest powered one (I can't remmber the correct term for it) and you would have to really screw it up to do damage with it (IMO).

I enjoy your blog, btw. We've never met but Carol Campion is a good friend and I remember when you came out to CT to get your puppy (she got a GREAT home, btw).

Yes Carolyn! I know your dog anyway :) She was there when I was visiting Carol :) I learned so much that week!

I am so VERY happy Paula has that girl, it is an awesome home I totally agree :)

I wonder what dog was there? Jill?

Carol tried to get me to buy your dog - I was selling my young dog about the same age at that time. I'm happy Paula got her though - she was SO SO excited when she picked her up at the airport and brought her right to Carol's and worked her at a Derek S. clinic!

YEP Jill! :)

Oh I didn't know that! Too funny and what a small world :)

So...you don't live out east anymore?

I'm glad to hear that she will heal up though!

So sorry that the news about Even is not good! Poor girl - it's awful to know that she is in so much pain. But I guess now you know what can be done and hopefully she will be healed and can get out of that x-pen and get going with her life. We think about you guys often and send lots of healing thoughts you way!
